Stochastic Processes

Birth death processes can have a very non-intuitive behavior. We study birth death processes in the presence of a catalyst and show that the stochastic behavior of the system is very different from the one expected by a mean field approach. We have studied a large number of systems, including:
A) Effect of diffusion on survival in birth death processes.
B) Common good production models.
C) Effect of non-uniform death probabilities on population
D) Clone size distribution in mutating populations, and the effect of selection on such populations
